Russian Railways and Skolkovo Foundation to work together to support tech start-ups
Russian Railways’ President Oleg Belozerov and Skolkovo Foundation President
Viktor Vekselberg have signed an agreement on cooperation in the presence of Russian
Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.
The signing took place in the framework of the Open Innovations 2017 Forum now
being held at the Skolkovo Technopark.
The parties intend to cooperate on the development and implementation of innovative
technologies, work with innovative companies, develop joint tools for interacting
with start-ups and develop the innovation environment at Russian Railways.
"This is a significant stage in our strategic partnership and will enable us to
use Skolkovo's infrastructure and communication environment for the innovative development
of rail transport," said Oleg Belozerov.
"The current agreement reinforces the partnership which has already been established
between Skolkovo and Russian Railways. The search for the R&D which Russian Railways
needs has long been actively pursued, for example, including through joint competitions.
We are also carrying out work to introduce innovative developments made by companies
based at Skolkovo at enterprises owned by Russian Railways. At the same time, today's
agreement is an important step forward since it signals that our partnership is undergoing
a serious expansion and reaching a new level," said Viktor Vekselberg.
Cooperation between Russian Railways and Skolkovo will help to form a system of
to select and accelerate innovative start-ups to be implemented at Russian Railways.
To achieve this, it is planned to create a joint working group and a roadmap for the
measures to be implemented.
The Skolkovo Foundation intends to support Russian Railways in finding innovative
projects and development teams among the innovative community, organising work with
start-ups, and also in providing the opportunity to use the necessary infrastructure
and services available at Skolkovo.
