Passenger numbers on Allegro trains increased by 26% in January-September 2017

RU EN

In September 2017, the high-speed Allegro service between St. Petersburg and Helsinki was used by 42,600 passengers, 24% more than in September 2016.

During January-September 2017, Allegro trains carried 372,000 passengers, an increase of 26% compared to the same period in 2017.

Since the international high-speed Allegro service between St. Petersburg and Helsinki was launched on 12 December 2010, a total of 2.6 million passengers have been transported.

The increased popularity of the Allegro service is due to flexible tariffs, a number of marketing initiatives, faster travel time and additional services such as laying on special dual trains with twice the numbers of carriages on days of when passenger demand is high.

Four pairs of Allegro trains now run daily between St. Petersburg and Helsinki.

Passenger rail services between Russia and Finland account for more than 70% of the total volume of passenger traffic with countries in Russia’s far-abroad.

Two rail services run between Russia and Finland, the Allegro trains between St. Petersburg and Helsinki and the Leo Tolstoy train running between Moscow and Helsinki.
