RZD Holding increased passenger transportation on high-speed trains in January-April 2017
Demand for passenger transportation on high-speed trains operated by the RZD Holding continued to increase in January-April 2017.
In the four months from January-April, high-speed Sapsan trains carried about 1.8 million passengers between Moscow and St. Petersburg, an increase of 11.3% on the same period in 2016, with 362,800 passengers travelling in April, 5.4% more than in April last year.
In January-April 2017, Allegro trains between St. Petersburg - Helsinki transported about 150,200 passengers, which is almost 28% more than in the same months last year. In April, Allegro trains carried about 39,400 passengers, 33.2% more than in April 2016.
Strizh trains on the run between Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod transported about 394,700 passengers n the first four months of 2017, 5.1% more than during the same period in 2016. In April this year, about 106,700 passengers were transported, an increase of 2% on April 2016.
In January-April 2017, the Moscow-Berlin Strizh trains transported about 7,500 passengers. In total, about 8,700 passengers have been transported by Strizh trains since the launch of the service on 17 December 2016.
The increasing demand for passenger transportation on high-speed trains is due to an increase in the number of places and greater frequency of services, as well as more attractive travel conditions, such as cost and our flexible fare policy, marketing initiatives, faster travel time, convenient train timetable and additional comfort and services.
