Work safety at Russian Railways four times higher than in Russia as a whole
Valentin Gapanovich, Senior Vice President of Russian Railways, has taken part in the strategic plenary session "Forming a Safety Culture - the Future of Occupational Health And Safety" at the III All-Russian Labour Protection Week now being held in Sochi.
Gapanovich stressed that a management system for labour and environmental protection and industrial and fire safety at Russian Railways is in place and undergoing constant improvement.
"Today, it is especially important to pay attention to the development and implementation of innovative projects in the field of industrial safety. The system of labour protection management we have developed at Russian Railways makes it possible to solve systematically the problem of reducing the level of industrial injuries. These indicators are steadily improving. The safety level at Russian Railways is four times higher than in Russia as a whole," said the Company Senior Vice President.
Beginning in 2010, Russian Railways started developing regulatory and methodological documents on various types of production risks. The development of the documents and their practical application is carried out within the framework of the MRRR system - the management of resources, risk and reliability during the stages of the operational cycle.
The system involves an audit of labour safety at the structural divisions of Russian Railways, which assesses the risks, including the likelihood of injury. Measures are being developed which are necessary to improve the situation and bring the organisation of labour protection into line with standards.
According to Valentin Gapanovich, continuous preventive work with employees creates a positive motivation for ensuring safety in the workplace.
