Russian Railways' network transported 82.2 million passengers in April 2016
According to the latest figures, in April 2016 Russian Railways transported 82.2 million passengers on its own infrastructure, which amounts to 100.4% of the number compared to the same month in 2015. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 75.0 million, a decline of 0.2%, while long-distance passengers rose to 7.2 million, an increase of 6.2%.
Passenger turnover amounted to 7.9 billion passenger-kilometres in April 2016, which is 1.5% more than in the same month in 2015.
In January-April 2016, Russian Railways carried 302.7 million passengers, a decline of 1.3% compared to January-April 2015. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 27.6 million, an increase of 1%, while suburban passengers were down 1.5% to 275.1 million.
Since the beginning of 2016, passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network decreased by 1.4% compared to last year and amounted to 31.1 billion passenger-kilometres.
