Russian Railways' network transported 72.8 million passengers in February 2016

According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' network transported 72.8 million passengers in February 2016, 1.1% less than in February 2015. Suburban passengers amounted to 66.9 million, a decline of 1.2%, while long-distance passenger numbers rose 0.7% to 5.9 million.

Passenger turnover in February 2016 was 6.6 billion passenger-kilometres, 2% less than in the same month in 2015.

Passenger numbers in January-February 2016 amounted to 141.7 million, a decline of 2.5% compared to January-February 2015. Long-distance passengers fell 1.5% to 13.6 million, while suburban passenger numbers were down 2.6% to 128.1 million.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network decreased by 3.2% since the beginning of 2016 compared to last year and amounted to 15.3 billion passenger-kilometres.
