Russian Railways' network loaded 95.2 m tons of freight in February 2015

According to the latest figures, loading volumes on the network of Russian Railways in February 2016 amounted to 95.2 m tons, 2.9% more than шт February 2015.

Freight turnover increased by 5.9% compared to the same month in 2015 and amounted to 184.9 billion tariff ton-kilometres in February 2016. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs during February 2016 increased by 5.4% and amounted to 237.4 billion ton-kilometres.

According to the latest figures, loading in January-February 2016 amounted to 188,963,200 million tons, the same amount as during January-February 2015.

The railways loaded the following freight items. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-February 2015:

  • coal – 55.1 m tons (+3.1%);
  • coke – 1.6 m tons (-4.3%);
  • petroleum and petroleum products – 40.6 m tons (-5.9%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 17.3 m tons (-1%);
  • ferrous metals – 11.2 m tons (-8.5%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 1.2 m tons (- 26.1%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 8.9 m tons (+6.4%);
  • cement емента – 2.6 m tons (-14.8%);
  • timber – 6.2 m tons (+0.9%);
  • grain – 3.1 m tons (+0.5%);
  • construction materials – 16.9 m tons (+19.3%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 3.3 m tons (+6.3%);
  • chemicals and soda – 4.2 m tons (-0.6%);
  • industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 4.2 m tons (-1.4%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2016 amounted to 367.8 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 1.3%, while freight turnover from the beginning of 2016 taking into account empty wagon runs was 473.9 billion ton-km, a rise of 1.4%.
