Russian Railways conducted a public and expert discussion on audit results of project documentation to modernise rail in Eastern Russia
Russian Railways has conducted a public and expert discussion of the results of the technological and price audit of the project documentation to modernise the railways in Eastern Russia.
A hearing held in Moscow on 16 February 2016 was attended by representatives of the expert community, the Expert Council under the Russian Government, Open Government, federal authorities and the media. Six objects were presented to the public.
"The results that we obtained in the course of the audit are evidence of the importance of experts opinions from Russian Railways itself and the country at large in the implementation of major investment projects, such as the modernisation of railways in Eastern Russia. In the framework of our joint work we have managed to reduce the cost of some facilities by 20%, and this is above all down to the expert community," said Anatoly Meshcheryakov, State Secretary and Vice-President of Russian Railways.
In accordance with decisions of the Government Commission on Transport, 72 objects on the railway infrastructure in Eastern Russia must undergo a technological and price audit of their project documentation. A final decision on the implementation of 12 objects will be adopted at the meetings of the Interagency Working Group on the development of rail transport.
In 2015, an audited was carried out on 30 facilities in Eastern Russia. The Interagency Working Group has to consider 8 objects (of which two projects were reviewed in October 2015).
