Additional long-distance trains to run during 2016 February and March holidays
To meet the demand for transport during the February and March 2016 holidays, the RZD holding will lay on an additional 47 long-distance trains operated by the Federal Passenger Company on domestic routes and international trains to Finland.
The additional trains will run from 19 to 24 February and from 3 to 9 March 2016 on Russian domestic routes.
In February 2016, 14 additional trains will run on the most popular routes: from Moscow to Kazan, Novozybkov, Cheboksary and Belgorod, as well as from Russia's northern capital St Petersburg to Moscow, Murmansk, Ostashkov, Kursk and other routes.
Maximum passenger demand is expected on 20 and 23 February.
In March, additional trains will make 33 runs from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Kazan, Cheboksary, Murmansk, Kirov, Tambov, Saransk, Stary Oskol, Ulyanovsk and Ufa, as well as from Rostov to Adler and from Bryansk to St. Petersburg and other routes. Peak dates for passenger departures to the regions are expected on 4 March and on 8 March in the opposite direction.
During the February and March holidays, as well as during the school holidays, international train No. 32/31 Leo Tolstoy Moscow - Helsinki will make additional runs. The train will depart from Moscow and the capital of Finland on 20 February and 5 and 26 March 2016.
Federal Passenger Company staff will monitor the demand for long-distance train travel during these periods online in real time. In the event that passenger flows increase, extra trains will be laid on or additional carriages added to the existing formations.
