New double-decker train between Moscow and St. Petersburg makes first run nearly filled to capacity
Branded train No. 7/8 from St. Petersburg - Moscow - St. Petersburg began running on 1 February 2016. This is the second double-decker train on that route operated by the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways.
When train No. 8 departed on its first run from Moscow, almost 100% of the tickets had been sold.
The train has 11 carriages, consisting of 10 compartment cars and a staff car equipped with a compartment for people with disabilities, as well as a restaurant car.
The carriages have been built using new environmentally friendly technologies, equipment and materials. Each compartment provides sockets for charging mobile phones. Compartment doors can be locked with individual magnetic key cards.
The innovative double-decker carriages not only ensure a comfortable journey, but also attractive fares. Due to the large amount of space in the carriage, the carrier has been able to reduce the cost of travel.
Branded train No. 7/8 is included in the dynamic pricing system: the earlier passengers purchase their tickets, the cheaper they are.
Tickets for this train go on sale 60 days before train departure date. The fare includes bed linen and food and drink.
The train will run between Moscow and St. Petersburg daily, departing at 21:50 from Moscow and from St. Petersburg at 21:52, arriving at its destination at 06:06 the next day.
