Russian Railways carried 1.024 billion passengers in 2015

According to the latest figures, Russian Railways carried 1.0244 billion passengers on its own infrastructure in 2015, a decline of 4.3% compared to 2014. Long-distance passengers amounted to 97.9 million, down 5.1%, while suburban commuter numbers fell to 926.5 million, a reduction of 4.2%.
Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network fell by 6.5% in 2015 compared to the previous year and amounted to 120.4 billion passenger-kilometres. Long-distance passenger turnover was 96.1 billion passenger-kilometres, a decline of 9.2%, while suburban passenger turnover fell by 0.6% to 32.5 billion passenger-kilometres.
According to the latest figures, in December 2015, the Russian Railways' network carried 84.2 million passengers, 3.1% less than in December 2014. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 77 million, a decline of 2.9%, while long-distance passengers fell 4.9% to 7.2 million.
Passenger turnover in December 2015 amounted to 8.5 billion passenger-kilometres, which is 5.5% less than during December 2014.
