Loading on Russian Railways' network in 2015 amounted to 1.214 billion tons

According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' network loaded 1.2145 billion tons of freight in 2015, 1% less than in 2014.

The railways shipped the following goods in 2015. The figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to 2014.

  • coal – 323.3 m tons (+2.5%);
  • coke – 11.1 m tons (-6%);
  • petroleum and petroleum products – 251.2 m tons (-2.1%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 109 m tons (+0.4%);
  • ferrous metals – 71.4 m tons (-0.6%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 15 m tons (-10.1%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 51.4 m tons (+4.4%);
  • cement – 28.6 m tons (-11.1%);
  • timber – 39.5 m tons (+2%);
  • grain – 18.7 m tons (+2.7%);
  • construction materials – 130.7 m tons (-7.4%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 20.4 m tons (+6.1%);
  • chemicals and soda – 25 m tons (-1.3%);
  • industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 34.9 m tons (-1.8%).

Freight turnover in 2015 amounted to 2,304.3 billion tariff ton-kilometres, an increase of 0.2%. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs was 2,954.4 billion tons-kilometresm which was unchanged compared to 2014.

According to the latest figures, loading on the Russian Railways' network in December 2015 amounted to 104.3 million tons, 1.1% more than in December 2014.

Freight turnover in December 2015 increased by 1.6% compared to the same month period last year and amounted to 201.9 billion tariff ton-kms. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 1.3% to 258.4 billion tons-km in December 2015 compared to the same month in 2014.
