"Our key principles are to increase internal efficiency and provide customers with mutually beneficial conditions," says President of Russian Railways


"To increase revenues in 2016, Russian Railways will have to implement a strategy of customer focus and improve the quality of services," said the President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, who was addressing the final session of the year of the Company's Board of Directors in Moscow on 16 December 2015.

According to Belozerov, the Company has set targets for 2016 to increase the share of freight shipments in loaded wagons delivered within the standard deadline to at least 95%, and the delivery speed of loaded shipments to at least 375 km per day. In addition, we finally have to move to working with clients through a "single window" in order to improve the quality of service."

Another promising area is the improvement of the tariff system on the principles of transparency.

"We are closely monitoring the situation on the markets with regard to the finished products made by our partners. For example, a significant reduction in demand and prices is taking place on the ferrous metals market. The current situation requires appropriate solutions on our part," said Oleg Belozerov.

Belozerov added that in the next few days, the Company's Board would consider a proposal to abolish from January 2016 the multiplying factor of 1.134 to the tariff which was previously introduced on export shipments of certain types of metal products within the tariff corridor. At the same time, the Company will continue to monitor the situation on the market with an eye to further decisions.

According to Oleg Belozerov, Russian Railways must go over to a new way of working with individual shippers, resolving questions jointly and for everyone's mutual benefit regarding the removal of barriers in order to increase the production capacity of enterprises and the growth of rail freight.
