Railway link between Russia and Lithuania retained
Due to a number of media reports that the railway link between Russia and Lithuania will be terminated, Russian Railways makes the following statement:
A new train timetable will enter into force on 13 December 2015. In agreement with Lithuanian Railways, train No. 5/6 Moscow - Vilnius will be cancelled. This service will make its last run on 12 December 2015.
Instead, train No. 29/30 Yantar Moscow - Kaliningrad, which is operated by the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, will include a group of 8 trailer carriages between Moscow - Vilnius to be operated by Lithuanian Railways. This train will consist of 1 sleeper carriage, 4 compartment carriages, 2 second-class carriages and 1 restaurant car.
Compared with the 2014 timetable, the travel time of train No. 29/30 from Moscow will be 29 minutes shorter and from Kaliningrad 40 minutes shorter than previously.
From 13 December 2015, this train will depart daily from Moscow at 17:20, arriving in Vilnius at 6:33 and in Kaliningrad at 14:00.
In the opposite direction, it will leave Kaliningrad at 13:47 and Vilnius at 19:10, arriving in Moscow at 9:20.
The procedure for border and customs control will not change.
