Russian Railways expects to increase role of innovative companies in Holding's procurement

The Centre for Scientific and Technical Information and Libraries at Russian Railways hosted the forum "How to Become a Supplier to Russian Railways." The forum was devoted to the Company's procurement and took place in Moscow on 11 December 2015.

"We are determined to ensure that procurement policy at Russian Railways is as open and transparent as possible. It is necessary to expand the range of our suppliers and ensure the effectiveness of our activities. One of these steps is to expand our procurement from small and medium businesses," said Anatoly Meshcheryakov on opening the forum.

By the end of 2015, the Company is to approve a new edition of its procurement provisions. The document has been prepared in conjunction with the Expert Council of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Corporation for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises.

According to the State Secretary - Vice-President - the new procurement regulations will be among the best on the market in terms of receiving feedback from applicants offering purchases. In particular, the document envisages a series of feedback measures from potential suppliers and even appeal procedures against tender results.

"The Company expects to increase the share of small enterprises in innovation. We are doing everything we can to make our procurement activities transparent, affordable, and simple enough in terms of involvement. We are providing clear instructions on our e-trading and procurement platform that enable companies to actually simplify the application procedure," said Anatoly Meshcheryakov.

Meshcheryakov also said that expanded meetings with potential suppliers would be held regularly and enhance the efficiency the Company's procurement activities.
