President of Russian Railways sums up Companys work in January-November 2015 (s)During a conference call on 9 December 2015, Oleg Beloziorov, President Russian Railways, summarised the Company's work in November and the 11 months to date in 2015.

Opening the call, the head of Russian Railways presented state awards to employees. By a decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the medal "For Services to the Fatherland" II Class was awarded for achievements in labour, social activities and many years of conscientious work to Konstantin Eroshkin, senior electrician at the Severobaykalsky Regional Communications Centre at the Irkutsk Communications Directorate.

The title "Honored Transport Worker of the Russian Federation" was awarded to Sergey Shevkunov, the head of the Omsk Logistics Management Department at the Novosibirsk Logistics Directorate.

As noted during the conference call, total loading for 11 months from January to November 2015 amounted to over 1.11 billion tons of freight, which is 1.2% lower than during the same period in 2014.

"Our key tasks are to increase competitiveness, create normal competitive conditions between different modes of transport and create the conditions to increase the freight base. We must work with our distribution chain and reduce the transportation component, so that our partners can increase their production volumes," said Oleg Beloziorov.

Summing up the passenger side, Beloziorov said that traffic had decreased by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2014, with long-distance passenger numbers down by 7.3%, while suburban numbers fell by 5.1%.

Beloziorov emphasised the importance of creating the most comfortable conditions for passengers. Thus, on 3 December 2015, the Samara - Moscow double-decker train made its first run. This train meets modern requirements regarding comfort, transports nearly twice as many passengers, and offers fares which on this train can be 30-50% lower than normal.
