President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov holds working meeting with OSJD Committee Chairman Tadeusz Szozda
Oleg Belozerov, President of Russian Railways, has held a working meeting with Tadeusz Szozda, Chairman of the Committee of the Organisation for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD). The meeting took place in Moscow on 26 November 2015.
Belozerov called cooperation with OSJD unique for Russian Railways and said that the projects which are being jointly developed and implemented are extremely important for the Russian railway industry.
During the meeting, Tadeusz Szozda informed his Russian colleagues that at the moment, work was actively being undertaken to improve the OSJD's fundamental documents. In particular, there was a need to create a unified convention on direct international connections. The document would be devoted to the Organisation's functioning in the new intergovernmental status, as well as the regulation of all issues related to the unimpeded international rail transport of freight and passengers.
The draft Convention currently represents the most up-to-date document which takes into account the interests of all railway systems, of both the European Union, and the countries of the CIS and south-east Asia.
In October 2015, the draft Convention was circulated to OSJD member states for their consideration. It is planned that by the end of 2016, an international inter-governmental conference will be held to adopt the Convention.
