Russian Railways' network loading up 0.1% to 103.1 million tons in November 2015

According to the latest figures, the network of Russian Railways loaded 103.1 million tons in November 2015, 0.1% more than in November 2014.

Freight turnover in November 2015 increased by 0.4% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 196.8 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 0.7% to 252.4 billion ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading in January-November 2015 amounted to 1.1102 billion tons, 1.2% less than the same period in 2014.

The railways shipped the following goods. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-November 2014:

  • coal – 292.4 m tons (+2.2%);
  • coke – 10.2 m tons (-5.3%);
  • oil and petroleum products – 229 m tons (-2%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 99.8 m tons (+0.2%);
  • ferrous metal – 65.4 m tons (+0.1%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 14.1 m tons (-8.1%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 46.7 m tons (+3.6%);
  • cement – 27.1 m tons (-11.2%);
  • timber – 35.9 m tons (+1.7%);
  • grain and milled products – 16.6 m tons (+2.6%);
  • construction materials – 121.3 m tons (-7.9%);
  • non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 18.7 m tons (+5.5%);
  • chemicals and soda – 22.7 m tons (-1.8%);
  • industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 32.4 m tons (1.5%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2015 amounted to 2,101.8 billion tariff ton-km, 0.1% more than during the corresponding period last year. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs was 2,695.4 billion ton-kilometres, a decline of 0.1%.
