Russian Railways' network loaded 107 m tons in October 2015

According to the latest figures, loading on the Russian Railways' network in October 2015 amounted to 107 m tons of freight, 0.5% less than in October 2014.

Freight turnover in October 2015 increased by 1.4% compared with October 2014 and amounted to 198.5 bn tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 1.5% and amounted to 254.1 bn ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading in January-October 2015 amounted to 1.0072 bn tons, which is 1.3% less than the same period in 2014.

The railways shipped the following freight items. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January to October 2014:

  • coal – 263.5 m tons (+2.2%);
  • coke – 9.4 m tons (-4.6%);
  • oil and petroleum products – 208.1 m tons (-1.7%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 90.8 m tons (+0.3%);
  • ferrous metals – 59.8 m tons (+0.8%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 12.9 m tons (-7%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 42.4 m tons (+3.1%);
  • cement – 25.3 m tons (-11.3%);
  • timber – 33 m tons (+2.1%);
  • grain and milled products – 14.6 m tons (+4.1%);
  • construction materials – 110.6 m tons (-9.4%);
  • non ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 17.1 m tons (+5.2%);
  • chemicals and soda – 20.6 m tons (-2.4%);
  • industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 29.4 m tons (-2.4%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2015 amounted to 1,904.6 bn tariff ton-km, the same volume as during the corresponding period in 2014. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs totalled 2,442.6 bn ton-km (-0.2%).
