Passenger traffic between Moscow and Tver rises by a quarter after launch of Lastochka high-speed express trains
In the first two weeks after Lastochka high-speed trains began running between Moscow - Kryukovo - Tver on October Railways, more than 162,000 passengers bought single tickets and about 40,000 passengers travelled on season tickets.
The launch of the high-speed Lastochka trains between Moscow and Tver in the two weeks from 1 to 14 October 2015 saw an increase in passenger traffic of almost a quarter (23%) to 5,104 people on this stretch, with 2,120 passengers travelling on Lastochka trains and 2,984 on ordinary electric trains.
During the two weeks, the Moscow-Tver Suburban Passenger Company (MTSPC) sold more than 2,300 season tickets. The most popular tickets were monthly tickets valid on weekdays. Thus, a monthly ticket to Zelenograd on weekdays costs 4,200 roubles, with a 38% discount on purchase.
According to research carried out by the MTSPC, 25% of the passengers surveyed previously used to travel by bus and private transport (i.e. these are new suburban commuters using the rail connection), 87% of the passengers praised the service on the Lastochka trains and almost 92% said the rolling stock is sufficiently comfortable.
