Oleg Belozerov, President of OJSC Russian Railways, met with Peter Priputen, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in the Russian Federation
The President of OJSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov today discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in the Russian Federation Peter Priputen and the Chairman of the Slovak-Russian Business Council Igor Ledetsky in Moscow.
The sides discussed the development of projects in the field of transport logistics, the modernisation of rolling stock and other priority areas of joint activities. In particular, the Slovak side expressed its interest in continuing the project to build a broad-gauge railway line from Košice in the Slovak Republic to Bratislava. For its part, OJSC Russian Railways confirmed its intention to cooperate further in this field.
"Such projects are very important to us, and we shall continue to work on them with you. The planning horizon is both very long and very positive. We have a very close, historically important relationship, which, fortunately, we have the opportunity of moving forward together," said the President of OJSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov.
Peter Priputen noted the active participation of OJSC Russian Railways in the Russian-Slovak Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the events held under the auspices of business councils of entrepreneurs from the two countries.
The sides confirmed their intention to develop further their co-operation and agreed to continue a series of talks to determine the most promising areas of joint activities and the implementation of specific projects.
During the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico to Russia on 1-2 June 2015, OJSC Russian Railways signed a number of documents:
- Memorandum of Cooperation between OJSC Russian Railways and Railways of the Slovak Republic in order to develop rail transit freight along Eurasian transport corridors;
- Memorandum of Cooperation between OJSC First Passenger Company and the Slovak-Russian Business Council;
- Agreement on Cooperation between the Russian Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Builders (Rosprofzhel) and the resorts of Slovenské liečebné kúpele [Slovak Medical Spa] Turčianske Teplice, a.s.
