President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov Congratulated Workers on the Company’s Birthday
Today, on a conference call, President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov congratulated employees on the 12th anniversary of the establishment of JSC Russian Railways.
"In the 12 years since the company has been founded, there have been many changes in the world and in our country, and the railroad, carefully preserving the experience and professional tradition of its nearly two centuries of history, is still keeping pace with the times, successfully developing a modern holding of a diversified portfolio of businesses," said Mr. Belozerov.
According to him, today railways of Russia carry more than 45% of freight transport system across the country, and, if you don’t count pipeline transportation, it is about 87%. The company contributes more than 1.5% to the GDP of Russia, nearly 3% of investment in fixed assets in the country, and more than 1% of tax revenues to budgets of all levels. The holding employs 1 million people, with than 1% of employment in the domestic economy.
During the years of structural reform there have been major changes in the market of transport services: the development of competition in the field of operating rolling stock, the appearance of private passenger carriers, and the development of fast and high-speed rail. There has been a great deal of work on the renovation and modernization of fixed assets and advanced innovative technologies have been introduced.
The international position of the company at both the level of bilateral relations with foreign partners and with international rail associations has been significantly strengthened.
The Russian Railways holding company has been consistent in the development of a modern management system and improving efficiency.
"My respected colleagues, I am confident that the professionalism and selfless work of our numerous workforce, solidarity, and the pursuit of our goals and will continue to guarantee the progressive development of Russian railways," said Mr. Belozerov. "At the same time, we must remember that the main purpose of our work is the convenience and comfort of our customers."
