A Working Meeting between President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and Director General of the International Union of Railways Jean-Pierre Loubinoux Was Held Today
Today Moscow hosted a working meeting between President of JSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and Director General of the International Union of Railways Jean-Pierre Loubinoux. Mr. Belozerov and Mr. Loubinoux discussed a number of issues related to the current participation of JSC Russian Railways in committees and working groups within the UIC and discussed plans for cooperation in the near future.
The company's specialists are actively involved in developing UIC international railway standards for high speed travel and, in the framework of the Asia-Pacific regional division of the UIC, the UIC Asia-Pacific Strategy for up to 2050 is being prepared at the initiative and with the participation of JSC Russian Railways.
Representatives from JSC Russian Railways are part of the governing committee of the Transport and Railway System forums of the UIC, as well as the UIC Budget and Audit Committee. Experts from the company head UIC working groups with activity that is global in nature: the Human Factor group in the Platform for Security, the Global Group of Experts on International Transport Corridors, and the Cybersecurity group as part of the UIC COLPOFER group.
The president of JSC Russian Railways assured Mr. Loubinoux that the company will continue to work actively in all these areas and will contribute to achieving the objectives of the UIC.
Recall that the president of JSC Russian Railways has served two consecutive terms as chairman of the UIC.
It is expected that Oleg Belozerov will be officially unveiled as chairman at the next UIC General Assembly.
The International Union of Railways (Union internationale des chemins de fer (UIC) was founded in 1922 as an association of railway administrations created to unify and improve the technical means and organization of railway operation. The organization is one of the most effective areas of cooperation with the international railway business.
On the basis of paragraph 10 of the Protocol of the 68th Session of the General Assembly of the UIC (June 12, 2006, Montreal, Canada), all members of UIC unanimously approved the membership of JSC Russian Railways to the organization as an active (full) member. On November 10, 2006, JSC Russian Railways was approved entrance to the UIC by the Board of Directors.
