Russian Railways' network loaded 105.2 m tons of freight in August 2015

According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' network loaded 105.2 m tons of freight in August 2015, 0.6% less than in August 2014.

Freight turnover in August 2015 increased by 1% compared to August 2015 and amounted to 193.6 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 0.6% to 247.3 billion ton-km.

Loading in January-August 2015, according to the latest figures, amounted to 796.8 m tons, 1.4% less than during the same period in 2014.

Between January-August 2015, the railways shipped the following goods. The figures in brackets show the percentage changes compared to the loading volumes in January-August 2014.

  • coal – 207.3 m tons (+2.5%);
  • coke – 7.5 m tons (-1.5%);
  • oil and petroleum products – 169.3 m tons (-0.6%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 72.2 m tons (+0.8%);
  • ferrous metals – 48.1 m tons (+1.5%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 10 m tons (-5%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 34.1 m tons (+2.3%);
  • cement – 19.7 m tons (-13%);
  • timber – 26.8 m tons (+2.1%);
  • grain and milled products – 10.6 m tons (+8.2%);
  • construction materials – 83.5 m tons (-13.6%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 13.6 m tons (+4.4%);
  • chemicals and soda – 16.6 m tons (-2.6%);
  • industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 22.5 m tons (-3.2%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2015 amounted to 1,513.4 billion tariff ton-km, a fall of 0.1%. Freight turnover  taking into account empty wagon runs fell to 1,943.3 billion ton-kilometres, a decline of 0.4%.
