Oleg Belozerov pays working visit to October Railways
Oleg Belozerov, President of OJSC Russian Railways, held a meeting with the staff of October Railways and the heads of the branches, subsidiaries and affiliated companies operating on its territory. October Railways was the first branch of Russian Railways which the Company's new president has visited.
"It is no accident that I've started to get acquainted with the Company's staff at October Railways. This is Russia's most important railway. It can look back on a long history, and it has always been of great strategic importance. Our high-speed rail links and the "flagship" Sapsan, Allegro and Lastochka express trains began here. October Railways also has a special significance due to its role on the border and as a railway line to port. So October Railways shows how the whole Company is integrated," said Oleg Belozerov.
Under discussion during Belozerov's meeting were the development of the railway infrastructure and transport security in Russia's North-West region.
Belozerov outlined the Company's key areas of activity and lines in the immediate future, noting that particular attention should be paid to maintaining staff skills and developing a personnel motivation system, which in turn should be the key to efficient production.
"I am confident that the team at October Railways will be able to provide the backbone for a solid development of our production and economic indicators and perform all the tasks assigned to the Company", said Belozerov in concluding the meeting.
During his visit, the President of Russian Railways and the head of October Railways, Oleg Valinsky, visited the section between St. Petersburg - Baltiisk - Gatchina - Vaimar - Kotly - Ust-Luga and visited the Luga railway hub, where preparations for commissioning an innovative sorting system are now nearing completion.
At Luga station, Oleg Belozerov also held a working meeting with Alexander Drozdenko, the Acting Governor of Leningrad Region, in order to discuss the development of railway infrastructure and improving safety when people cross railway lines. In addition, the two men discussed the forthcoming commissioning of Lastochka trains between St. Petersburg and Vyborg, which is due on 2 September 2015.
The President of Russian Railways concluded his time at October Railways with a visit to the Dispatch Centre at the October Traffic Management Directorate, which handles operational work between Moscow and Murmansk.
