Russian Railways' network loads 102.8 m tons in July 2015

According to the latest figures, in July 2015 the Russian Railways' network loaded 102.8 m tons, 0.3% less than in July 2014.

Freight turnover in July 2015 increased by 2.3% compared to July 2014 and amounted to 196.3 bn tariff ton-km. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs increased by 2.4% to 251.5 bn ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading in January-July 2015 amounted to 691.7 m tons, 1.6% less during the same period in 2014.

The railways shipped the following goods. The figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-July 2014:

  • coal – 180.9 m tons (+2.7%);
  • coke – 6.6 m tons (-1.1%);
  • oil and oil products – 148 m tons (-0.6%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 63.1 m tons (+0.8%);
  • ferrous metals – 42 m tons (+2%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 8.6 m tons (-2.8%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 29.8 m tons (+1.8%);
  • cement – 16.6 m tons (-13.6%);
  • timber – 23.7 m tons (+2.1%);
  • grain and milled products – 8.9 m tons (+11.7%);
  • construction materials – 70.1 m tons (-15.7%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 11.8 m tons (+3.4%);
  • chemicals and soda – 14.6 m tons (-2.7%);
  • industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 19.3 m tons (-4.1%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2015 amounted to 1,319.6 bn tariff ton-km, a decline of 0.3%, while freight turnover including empty wagon runs was down 0.6% to 1,695.8 bn ton-km.
