Sales of electronic tickets up by 18%
Since the beginning of 2015, more than 14.9 million electronic tickets have been sold for long-distance trains operated by the Federal passenger Service, 18% more than during the same period last year. About 82,000 passengers buy e-tickets every day.
In the first half of 2015, more than 14.2 million tickets were bought through the Internet, with 82.2% undergoing electronic registration, which is equivalent to more than 11.7 million people.
Self-service transaction terminals were used to book 702,000 seats, including 13,600 bought for cash through the terminals - two terminals which capable of accepting banknotes have been installed at Kursk railway station in Moscow.
Electronic ticket sales at the Federal Passenger Service account for 28.7% of the total number of tickets sold by the company.
In the first half of 2015, 52 million seats on long-distance trains were sold.
