Strizh Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod high-speed service carried more than 78,900 passengers in first month of service
Strizh trains began running on 1 June 2015. Since July, the number of services has increased from 5 to 7 per day, with the maximum number running on Fridays.
Numerous Strizh trains stop at Vladimir, Kovrov and Dzerzhinsk stations, but there are also direct services. The minimum travel time is 3 hours 35 minutes.
The train includes cars with seating in 1st and 2nd class carriages, sleeping cars (VIP), a buffet car and a dining car. The carriages are equipped with air conditioning and environmentally friendly toilet units.
The 1st and 2nd class carriages are fitted with individual lighting, an audio and video system which accept individual headphones, a socket for charging mobile devices and individual tables.
The compartments in the sleeping carriages are designed for two passengers and are equipped with an individual bathroom with a shower. The compartments also have a TV to view video content, a safe, clothes hangers, a table and a button to call the conductor. Access to the compartment is provided by an individual key card.
The train also features other advanced services, including Wi-Fi for passengers' mobile devices, watching movies and an Audio Guide to the sights along the route.
Passengers participating in the RZD Bonus loyalty programme obtain special conditions for accumulating points and gain an 25% additional premium points for all trips made on Strizh trains in 2015.
The rolling stock is manufactured by the Spanish company Patentes Talgo SL and is fitted with a passive tilting system, which saves travel time by allowing faster speeds through tight curves. In addition, the high suspension means the carriages can tilt, thus reducing the effects of centrifugal force on the passengers, which significantly increases their comfort during their journey.
