Russian Railways network transported more than 90 m passengers in May 2015
According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' infrastructure transported 90.08 m passengers in May 2015, 3.6% less than in May 2014. Suburban passenger numbers fell to 82.4 m, a decline of 3.3%, while long-distance passengers amounted to 7.7 m, a fall of 7%.
Passenger turnover in May 2015 amounted to 9.3 billion passenger-kilometres, which is 8.5% less than the same month in 2014.
In January-May 2015, 396.4 m passengers were carried, 5.6% down from to January-May 2014. Suburban passengers fell 5.5% to 361.6 m, while long-distance passenger numbers fell 6.7% to 34.8m.
Passenger traffic on the Russian Railways network since the beginning of 2015 decreased by 8.9% compared to last year and amounted to 40.8 billion passenger-kilometers.
