Small and medium-sized enterprises give Russian Railways top loyalty rating among largest customers

A panel session entitled “Large Russian and International Companies vs Small and Medium Business: Mutual Trust between Customers and Suppliers” was held at the St. Petersburg International Economic ForumTop of Form on 26 May 2018.

The consolidated loyalty rating of the largest customers to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) was presented at the session.

The rating was developed by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives in conjunction with the SME Corporation and based on the results of a survey carried out by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM), the oldest and marketing and opinion research company in the post-Soviet space.

The main components used in compiling the rating were the level of general satisfaction on the part of SMEs with their collaboration with large companies, procurement procedures, the implementation of partnership programmes, information support in procurement activities, contractual relations and the contribution to technological development.

The main factors in the assessment were the correctness and openness of the procurement procedures, compliance with contractual relations, the availability of ongoing partnership programmes and the conclusion of contracts with SMEs on terms including advance payments of 30%.

OJSC Russian Railways occupies the third line in this rating.

Anatoly Chabunin, Deputy CEO of Russian Railways, took part in the work of the session and commented on the results of the rating, noting that it was the result of joint work with the SME Corporation.

The SME Corporation’s agreement with Russian Railways was one of the first. Now, the first real feedback has been received regarding the initial results of this cooperation.

The work in this direction should be based on mutual trust between corporations, SMEs and the state, but in addition mutual responsibility should also be an important factor since it provides an appropriate level of qualification of the subjects and the quality of the products supplied.

In accordance with the plan for 2018, the share of purchases made by OJSC Russian Railways exclusively from small and medium-sized businesses will be more than a quarter of the total annual cost of the Company’s total procurement or 50.1 billion roubles.
