CEO of OJSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov sets task of ensuring unconditional transport
safety during 2018 World Cup
On 7 February 2018, Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the
Board of OJSC Russian Railways, held a conference call with the heads of the divisional
railways on the results of the Company's work in January and the tasks for 2018.
The Company CEO and Chairman noted that the tariff freight turnover in January
2018 increased by 5.6%. Tariff freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs
was up by 4.4%. Total loading volume amounted to 103.5 million tons of freight, 3.4%
more than in January 2017.
In January, more than 80 million passengers travelled, 3.8% more than in January
2017. Passenger turnover increased by 3.1%. Suburban passenger turnover was up by
0.8%, while long distance passenger turnover increased by 3.9%. Labour productivity
rose by 6.6%.
Talking about work in the current year, Oleg Belozerov set the Company the task
of providing unconditional transport and industrial safety.

safety regarding both the transportation process and working conditions. It is important
to comply strictly with the legislation covering transport safety and pay special
attention to its implementation during the mass sporting events taking place later
The CEO also noted the importance of improving the quality of passenger service,
including during the forthcoming World Cup in summer 2018.
With regard to freight transportation, he said that the main tasks were to meet
demand in full, increase the level of client orientation and increase the volumes
of transit traffic.
According to Oleg Belozerov the improvement of the working conditions and social
security of women, who make up one third of the Company's employees, is another area
that is planned to receive serious attention this year.
"We discussed this whole complex of issues and agreed to form a coordinating council
to improve the working conditions, recreation and social support for women, as well
as a plan of measures to create comfortable working conditions for women and protect
their rights, which is especially relevant given the specifics of our production complex
and the varous jobs with hard working conditions," said the Company CEO and Chairman.
