Joint project of Russian Railways Holding Company and Knauf reduces load on road network between two regions of the Russian Federation
OJSC Russian Railways is carrying out targeted work aimed at improving the competitiveness and attractiveness of freight transport by rail.
In September 2015, Moscow Railways and the company Knauf Gips KG launched a joint project to transport freight between Promgipsovaya station in Russia's Tula region and Voskresensk station in the Moscow Region. The distance between the two stations is approximately 200 kilometres. The Company has provided its partners with attractive transport and logistics services, as a result of which the railway has attracted 270,000 tons of freight.
Included the project is the increasingly popular service "Freight Train by Timetable," which has allowed the client to optimise supply chain logistics and reduce the proportion of transport costs in the final cost of the product, as well as to minimise the residues of raw materials used for production in warehouses.
Implementing the project will demonstrate the effectiveness of rail for freight transportation over short distances.
In addition, over the past six months, the joint project has had the additional benefit of relieving the road network between the two regions of more than 10,000 heavy-duty trucks.
