Loading volumes on network owned by Russian Railways amounted to 100 million tons in February 2019

 

 

According to the latest figures, loading volumes on the network owned by OJSC Russian Railways in February 2019 amounted to 100 million tons, 0.1% more than in February 2018.

Freight turnover in February 2019 increased by 1.4% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 199.3 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs increased by 1.5% and rose to 255.4 billion ton-km.

According to the latest figures, total loading volumes in January and February 2019 amounted to 205.4 million tons, an increase of 0.9% compared to the same two months of 2018.

The railways shipped the following items of freight in January and February 2019. The figures in brackets shows the percentage change compared to January and February 2018.

coal – 63.1 million tons (+3.2%);

coke – 1.86 million tons (+4.4%);

oil and petroleum products – 39.5 million tons (+0.1%);

iron and manganese ores – 19.1 million tons (+8.1%);

ferrous metals – 12.7 million tons (+0.5%);

ferrous metal scrap – 1.39 million tons (-4.9%);

chemical and mineral fertilisers – 10.2 million tons (+2%);

cement – 2.6 million tons (-3.5%);

timber – 7.1 million tons (-0.3%);

grain – 4.1 million tons (-8.3%);

construction material – 16.8 million tons (-7.6%);

non-ferrous ores and sulphur raw materials – 2.96 million tons (-5.2%);

chemicals and soda – 4.3 million tons (-3.9%);

industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 5 million tons (-5.1%).

Since the beginning of 2019, freight turnover amounted to 419.7 billion ton-km tariff, an increase of 1.9%. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs was 536.6 billion ton-km, a rise of 2%.
