Passenger transport on the network owned by Russian Railways increased by 4.4% in June 2018

According to the latest figures, 103.61 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways in June 2018, 4.4% more than in the same month last year.

Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 92.36 million, an increase of 3.1%, while long-distance traffic jumped by 15.6% to 11.25 million passengers.

Passenger turnover in June 2018 amounted to 13.2 billion passenger-kilometres, 7.9% more than in the same month in 2017. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 3 billion pass-km, an increase of 3%, while long-distance passenger turnover jumped by 9.4% to 10.2 billion pass-km.

In January-June 2018, 547.6 million passengers travelled, up 3.3% compared to the same period during June 2017. Suburban passengers numbered 497.84 million, up by 2.6%, while long-distance numbers were up to 49.73 million, an increase of 9.8%.

Passenger turnover on the network owned by Russian Railways since the beginning of 2018 increased by 5.3% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 55.82 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover rose to 15.45 billion pass-km, an increase of 2.1%, while long-distance traffic amounted to 40.37 billion pass-kilometers, up by 6.6%.

In the first half of 2018, the Moscow Central Ring carried 60.5 million passengers, a jump of 21.2%, including about 10.3 million in June, an increase of 14.9%.

On 16 May 2018, a new record was set for passenger transportation on the Moscow Central Ring following its opening on 10 September 2016, when it carried 449,818 people.
