Russian Railways and Congo agree on cooperation
Alexander Misharin, First Deputy Managing Director of Russian Railways, and Didier Mazenga Mukanza, the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document was concluded at the Russia-Africa Economic Forum in Sochi in Southern Russia on 23 October 2019.
According to the document, the parties expressed their interest in the joint implementation of cooperation on rail transport and intend to explore the possibilities for cooperation in areas such as the implementation of restoration projects, the modernisation and construction of railway lines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and promising projects in the development of railway logistics and freight and passenger transport, as well as training and training DRC railway workers at specialised Russian universities.
The parties will set up a joint working group of experts to implement the signed memorandum.
