Loading on network owned by Russian Railways amounted to 108 million tons in July 2019

According to the latest figures, loading volumes on the network owned by Russian Railways amounted to 108 million tons in July 2019, the same amount as in July last year.

Freight turnover in July 2019 decreased by 3.1% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 212.9 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs during the same month decreased by 3.1% and amounted to 270.1 billion ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading volumes from January to July 2019 amounted to 741.6 million tons, 1.3% less than during the same period last year.

From January to June 2019, the railways loaded the following categories of freight. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-

July 2018.

coal - 215.8 million tons (-1%);

coke - 6.3 million tons (-0.4%);

oil and petroleum products - 134.8 million tons (-1.9%); • iron and manganese ores - 69.3 million tons (+ 3.3%); • ferrous metals - 44.2 million tons (-4%); • ferrous metal scrap - 8.4 million tons (-0.1%); • chemical and mineral fertilisers - 35.5 million tons (+ 2.2%); • cement - 15.4 million tons (+ 5.8%); • timber - 25.8 million tons (-5.4%); • grain - 10.6 million tons (-33.4%); • construction materials - 72.2 million tons (-3.1%); • non-ferrous and sulphur ores - 11.5 million tons (-2.5%); • chemicals and soda - 15.3 million tons (-1.2%); • industrial raw materials and moulded materials - 20.2 million tons (-2.7%).

Since the beginning of 2019, freight turnover has amounted to 1,520.1 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 1.3% on the same period in 2018. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs rose to 1,933.9 billion ton-kilometers, which was up by 1.2%.
