Oleg Belozerov sums up Company’s work in 1H 2019
Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways, held a conference call on 5 July 2019 and discussed the results of the Company’s work during the first six months of 2019 and the tasks for July.
The Company head focused on the situation that had arisen in connection with the flood along a stretch of East-Siberian Railways. He noted that during the entire period of the flooding, the East-Siberian Main Line continued working smoothly and without interruption.
“On the most difficult days, the railway line remained the only type of communication, both between settlements and between individual areas. I would therefore like to thank all my colleagues, above all, the East-Siberian Railways’ team for its high level of work. I would like to emphasise that whatever problem our employees have to face regarding the necessary assistance, our task is to find answers to help them out,” - said Oleg Belozerov.
The Company has a special operations centre, and all the necessary decisions on assistance and ensuring the smooth operation of the Eastern Siberian Railways are made online.
Speaking about the production results for the first half of the year, the Company head noted that the tariff freight turnover during January to June 2019 had increased by 2% compared to the same period last year and that a total of 633.6 million tons of freight were loaded.

In the first half of 2019, the Company’s passenger side recorded positive trends on all key indicators. Passenger turnover increased by 3.4%. Suburban passenger turnover was up by 5.1% and long-distance passenger turnover rose by 2.8%.
The Company CEO and Chairman noted that 1.6 million passengers had travelled to the Black Sea coast in June, 5.9% more than in June 2018. More than 3.3 million tickets have already been sold for the period from 1 July to 31 August, 3.4% more than for the same two months last year.
“I would like to ask all the managers on the passenger side and the head of the regional railway divisions to ensure the highest quality of these services,” - said Oleg Belozerov.
