OJSC Russian Railways invested more than 38 billion roubles in development of railway infrastructure on the approaches to Russia’s southern ports in 2018

In 2018, Russian Railways spent 38.5 billion roubles on implementing the investment project "The Development and Renovation of Railway Infrastructure on the Approaches to the Ports of the Azov-Black Sea Basin." In particular, the Company is carrying out a comprehensive reconstruction of the Maxim Gorky-Kotelnikovo-Tikhoretskaya-Krymskaya stretch with a detour of the Krasnodar hub and of the Trubnaya-Verkhniy Baskunchak-Aksaraiskaya section and reinforcing the power supply devices.

By the end of 2018, 260 kilometres of second and more than 40 km of station tracks had been laid, 56 km of the route modernised, 240 new switches mounted and 350 km of tracks electrified.

In addition, more than 80 km of second main tracks were commissioned, including on the Abganerovo - Gniloaksayskaya, Gashun - Zimovniky, Razvilnaya - Peschanokopskaya and Manych - Shablievskaya lines, as well as over 24 km of station tracks. Working traffic began at the Krasnodar railway bypass.

About 900 km have been laid for various purposes within the framework of the project, which began in 2007.

The total investment to date has exceeded 150 billion roubles.
