"Russian Railways has formed a portfolio of competencies to open up international
markets," says Oleg Belozerov
Based on an analysis of the capabilities of the RZD Holding, an "export portfolio"
of goods, work and services has been formed that is competitive on international markets.
This was announced by the President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov at the XII
International Railway Business Forum "Strategic Partnership 1520."
Belozerov made his announcement during the plenary discussion "Entering New Markets:
Cooperation as an Instrument for Implementing Global Projects."
"In a rapidly changing business environment with intense competition for capital
and human resources, the best strategy for any company is not to try to do everything,
but to focus on key competencies by accessing adjacent geographical or product markets
through partnerships, alliances and other forms of cooperation," said Belozerov.
Belozerov added that the main competence of Russian Railways lies in transportation
Today, the holding company is present in more than forty countries all over the
world, largely due to the work of its logistics subsidiaries.
"We offer our customers convenient transit routes with a minimum number of border
crossings, a single and unified legal space and a simplified system for freight declarations
at customs," said the head of Russian Railways.
He noted that to increase the efficiency of interstate transportation and reduce
the costs of cross-border trade, Russian Railways was actively developing the Russian
sections of major International Transport Corridors (ITCs), reducing the time for
customs operations, increasing freight delivery times and increasing its freight forwarding
As a result, the holding company can now provide new integrated services at an
optimal price-performance ratio.
With regard to the holding's competencies with high export potential, Oleg Belozyorov
singled out railway consulting, railway design, construction and modernisation, the
management of transport complexes, material supplies, machinery and equipment for
the railway industry, personnel training and development and IT solutions for the
management of transport complexes.
The head of Russian Railways stressed the importance of cooperation in international
production when entering new markets.
"For us, an active access to foreign markets with understandable and reliable partners
is really a new development paradigm. It is necessary to 'ride' the global wave of
infrastructure transport construction and the development of logistics capacities
by offering our experience and competencies," said Oleg Belozerov.
