Passenger traffic on network owned by Russian Railways increased by 6.4% in February
According to the latest figures, the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways carried
76.7 million passengers in February 2017, 6.4% more than in February 2016. Suburban
passenger numbers increased 6.6% to 70.6 million, while long-distance passengers were
up to 6.1 million, a rise of 3.4%.
Passenger turnover in February 2017 amounted to 6.6 billion passenger-km, 2.5%
less than in February 2016.
In January-February 2017, the Russian Railway's network carried 154.2 million passengers,
an increase of 9.3% compared to January-February 2016. Long-distance passenger numbers
amounted to 13.7 million, an increase of 0.5%, while suburban passengers rose to 140.5
million, a jump of 10.3%.
Since the beginning of 2017, passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network
decreased by 2% compared to last year and amounted to 15.1 billion passenger-kilometres.
