President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov: "We have to work continuously with clients,
study their needs and identify problems"
The Coordinating Council of railway heads is being held in Moscow 10-11 October
It is being attended by the President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, senior
managers and managers of the Company's railways branches.
"It was the councils in the regions in particular, which are led by the heads of
the railways, which played a major role in coordinating the work of the railways to
meet client needs on locally. That in turn attracted new freight volumes. These platforms
provide a forum for joint meetings with the regional authorities, the Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of Russia and The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and
the heads of large enterprises. All this facilitates real solutions," said Oleg Belozerov
when opening the Council's meeting.
The Company President noted that the Council will address key issues for Russian
Railways, such as improving efficiency across the Holding, attracting freight and
increasing the profitability of freight traffic.
"We must admit that the relations with small shippers sometimes do not get the
attention they need, so they turn to alternative modes of transport for price and
technical reasons. We can change the situation by constantly improving our services
and raising the level of cooperation with our clients," said Oleg Belozerov.

The Coordination Council of railways heads is an advisory body under the President
of Russian Railways.
The main tasks of the Council are to:
- review the transportation needs of consumers of railway services;
- develop recommendations for the implementation of measures on the railways to
develop and improve efficiency;
- develop proposals to improve the tariff policy,
- ensure the competitiveness of international rail transit traffic;
- develop recommendations to implement a unified transport policy at the Holding
at regional level.
