More than 350,000 passengers carried on train No. 34/33 Moscow - Tallinn during first year of service

The tenth of July 2016 marked the first anniversary of the launch of international train No. 33/34 The Baltic Express between Moscow - St Petersburg - Tallinn, which is operated by the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways.

During its first year, the train carried more than 350,000 passengers.

In the first half of 2016, the train transported 176,200 passengers, almost 4.5 times as many as in the same period last year.

The Moscow - Tallinn train runs daily, departing from Moscow at 23:10, arriving in St. Petersburg at 5:44, departing from St. Petersburg at 6:29 and arriving in Tallinn at 13:38.

The return service from Tallinn departs at 17:09, arriving in St. Petersburg at 23:52, departing from St. Petersburg at 00:47 and arriving in Moscow at 09:40.

From 20 August 2016, after departing from Tallinn, the train will pass through the Moscow Railway Station in Saint Petersburg, rather than through Ladoga Station as at present.

During the year, work has been done to facilitate faster train speeds. Since 13 December 2015, travel time from Moscow has been cut by 1 hour 41 minutes, and since 29 May 2016 the journey from Tallinn has been reduced by 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Passengers using the service can purchase tickets for the branded carriages (sleeping cars and compartments), as well as reserved, carriage and compartment seats without any branded elements. The train also has a restaurant car, a staff car and a compartment equipped for passengers with disabilities. Branded cars are equipped with Wi-Fi access points and sockets in each compartment.

Passengers can take advantage of special discounted train fares by advance purchases. Passengers purchasing tickets 60-31 days before the train departs receive a discount of 15%. Purchases 30-21 days before departure carry a 10% fare discount.

When booking e-tickets through the official website of Russian Railways for trains operated by the Federal Passenger Company to the CIS and Baltic countries, a discount of 3% is given off the cost of travel on the territory of Russia.

Tickets go on sale for train No. 33/34 Moscow - Tallinn 60 days before departure.

Passengers can use the electronic registration service.
