Today in the Republic of Serbia, additional agreement no. 2.2 to the main contract
for the upgrade of the infrastructure of Serbian railways in the south for a total
length of 46 497 m as part of the development of Pan-European Corridor X was signed.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of President of JSC "Russian Railways"
Oleg Beloziorov; Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Minister of Construction,
Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović; and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Serbia Alexandra Chepurina.
The document was signed by General Director of JSC "Infrastructure Railways of
Serbia" Goran Maksić and General Director of "RZD International" Sergei Pavlov.
The agreement provides for the reconstruction of railway infrastructure in the
three southern sections of the Pan-European Transport Corridor X with a total length
of more than 46 km: Vinarci–Djordjevo, Vranjska Banja–Ristovac, and Bujanovac–Bukarevac.
In accordance with the agreements reached by parties, the lower track structure will
be completely replaced and the signaling system (alarm–centralization–lock),
telecommunications, and contact network will be reconstructed.
In the project, "RZD International" will use advanced Russian technologies on the
track, increasing performance and significantly reducing the time of the work. It
is important to note that the reconstruction of the areas will be in the "window"
mode and the complete cessation of trains will be unnecessary.
After the signing ceremony, President of JSC "Russian Railways" O.V. Beloziorov
held working meetings with President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić and
Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
