Allegro passenger numbers increased by more than 16% in January-August 2019
In August 2019, the high-speed Allegro trains transported 58,700 passengers between St. Petersburg and Helsinki, 13.4% more than during August 2018. Allegro trains carried a total of 375,100 passengers in the 8 months from January to the end of August 2019, 16.1% more than during the same period last year.
Since the launch of international high-speed Allegro services between St. Petersburg and Helsinki on 12 December 2010, Allegro trains have transported 3,653,000 passengers.
Flexible fares, marketing initiatives and the appointment of special dual trains with double the usual number of carriages on days when demand is significantly higher, for example, during holidays, have contributed to the increasing attractiveness of Allegro trains for passengers. In addition, it has been possible to book tickets for the high-speed Allegro trains 90 days before the train’s departure since 4 October 2018.
Passengers can obtain detailed information about the Allegro timetable and tickets costs, as well book tickets, at railway ticket offices and online on the official website of the Russian Railways and the RZD mobile app.
When selling travel documents, payments are made in roubles at the rate set by the Central Bank of Russia on the day the ticket is booked.
