Freight loading volumes on the network owned by Russian Railways increased by 1.6%
in January 2019
According to the latest figures, loading on the network owned by Russian Railways
amounted to 105.4 million tons in January 2019, 1.6% more than in the same month last
year.
Freight turnover in January 2019 increased by 2.1% compared to January last year
and amounted to 220 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover taking into account
empty wagon runs during the same time increased by 2.3% and rose to 280.8 billion
ton-km.
In January 2019, the railways shipped the following items of freight. Figures in
brackets show the percentage change compared to January 2018.
- coal – 32.9 million tons (+5.2%);
- coke – 0.986 million tons (+9.1%);
- oil and petroleum products – 20.7 million tons (-0.1%);
- iron and manganese ores – 9.9 million tons (+7.5%);
- ferrous metals – 6.6 million tons (+0.1%);
- ferrous metal scrap – 0.590 million tons (-10.5%);
- chemical and mineral fertilisers – 5.3 million tons (+2.1%);
- cement – 1.1 million tons (-7.5%);
- timber – 3.6 million tons (+6%);
- grain – 1.99 million tons (-8.5%);
- construction materials – 8.3 million tons (-5.1%);
- non-ferrous ores and sulphur raw materials – 1.5 million tons (-4.4%);
- chemicals and soda – 2.3 million tons (-5%);
- industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 2.5 million tons (-11.1%).
