Russian Railways met in full all its obligations under the 2018 collective agreement

Participants at a joint meeting between the Board of Russian Railways and the Russian Trade Union of Railway Workers and Transport Builders (Rosprofzhel) summed up the results of the 2018 collective agreement between the Company and employees.

"Last year was very productive for the Company," said the Chief Executive Officer of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov in his opening remarks. "Thanks to the well-coordinated and efficient work of the whole team, the work across the whole railway network was ensured, the financial, volume and quality performance indicators were fulfilled and the tasks set by the country’s leadership continued to be implemented as planned."

In 2018, one of the key indicators, labour productivity, increased by 6.8%. Social stability was ensured in all groups and not a single collective labour dispute occurred. In accordance with the collective agreement, the Company indexed wages and increased the minimum wage, making it possible to increase real wages by 5.9%.

In addition, Russian Railways carried out systematic work to improve working conditions and safety.

"Together with the trade unions, the tasks of supplying employees with work clothes, tools, and food on a day-to-day basis are being solved. This is where the efficiency of the Company’s production process begins," said Oleg Belozerov.

Russian Railways also made investments totalling 1.7 billion roubles in order to improve sanitary conditions in 2018, with another 2.8 billion roubles to be allocated to these purposes in 2019.

The Company is systematically engaged in improving the working and rest conditions for women. Among the proposed social support measures are more flexible working hours, the provision of days without pay for family reasons, and the provision of a separate seat for children from 4 years of age when travelling on long-distance trains.

In 2018, the Company also paid a lot of attention to improving the health of workers and their families and of non-working pensioners. Last year, more than 77,000 people were able to rest at the RZD Holding’s sanatoriums and vacation homes. In addition, the Company organised the recreation and rehabilitation of 60,000 children of Company staff during the summer season, including more than 10,000 children on the Black Sea coast.

This year, Russian Railways will conclude a sectoral agreement and a collective agreement for the next three-year period.

"One of our main goals is to strengthen our position on the labour market and increase the attractiveness of working at the Company," said Oleg Belozerov. "A successful collective agreement contributes to solving these tasks. The level of benefits and guarantees under the agreement depends directly on our production and financial and economic indicators. The responsibility of both sides – both the employer and the employees – is therefore a key factor in solving successfully all the tasks we have been set."
