Passenger traffic on Russian Railways' network increased by 9.2% in April 2017

According to the latest figures, the infrastructure of Russian Railways carried 89.8 million passengers in April 2017, 9.2% more than in April 2016. Suburban passenger numbers were up 9.8% to 82.52 million, while long-distance passengers rose by 2.9% to 7.23 million.

Passenger turnover in April 2017 amounted to 8.2 billion passenger-kilometres, which corresponds to the indicator for April 2016.

Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 2.49 billion pass-km, an increase of 1.4%, while long-distance turnover declined 0.6% to 5.75 billion pass-km.

In January-April, 2017, the infrastructure of Russian Railways carried 333.9 million passengers, an increase of 10.3% compared to January-April 2016. Long-distance passenger numbers rose 0.4% to 27.6 million, while suburban passengers amounted to 306.3 million, an increase of 11.3%.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network decreased by 0.3% from the beginning of 2017 compared to the level of 2016 and amounted to 31.3 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover increased to 9.4 billion pass-km, a rise of 4.8%, while long-distance turnover was down to 21.9 billion pass-km, a decrease of 2.3%.

In January-April 2017, the Moscow Central Ring (MCC) carried 32 million passengers, including about 8.8 million trips in April.

On 11 April 2017, 371,600 passengers travelled on the MCC, a record since it was launched on 10 September 2016.
