"Next year we will have to solve the complex and large-scale task of providing an efficient transport service during the World Cup. The matches will be held from 14 June to 15 July 2018 in 11 cities - Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Samara, Saransk, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd," said Dmitry Pegov, Director of Passenger Transport at Russian Railways.

Fans have already made more than 29,000 applications to travel on the extra trains.

To qualify for free travel on the additional trains, fans need to purchase tickets for the 2018 World Cup matches and order a personalised Fan ID card (or fan ticket).

They also need to register on the site www.tickets.transport2018.com and book their journey to the city where the match will be held.

After completing the registration and booking procedure, an information letter containing all the information about the place in the selected additional train will be sent to the e-mail the user indicated during the registration procedure.

For the convenience of fans, an electronic support service has been set up.

Fans of the World Cup 2018 can put their questions on obtaining and using the free travel facilities at support@transport2018.com.

The extra trains will consist of comfortable compartment carriages equipped with air conditioning and environmentally friendly toilet complexes, as well as dining cars.

It is planned to use innovative rolling stock: double-decker carriages and the Lastochka electric trains.

Double-decker carriages will run on the following routes: Moscow - Samara, Moscow - St. Petersburg, Moscow - Kazan, Moscow - Adler and St. Petersburg - Moscow.

The Lastochka electric trains will provide free transportation for fans on the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod route using double convoys consisting of 10 carriages.

It is expected that the most popular trains among fans will be services to and from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara.
