Registration now open for special trains for 2018 World Cup fans
Football fans planning to come to Russia in 2018 to visit the World Cup can now
reserve seats on the additional trains being laid on between the host cities of the
championship for the duration of the tournament.
The Russian Railways holding company is putting on extra trains to cope with the

"Next year we will have to solve the complex and large-scale task of providing
an efficient transport service during the World Cup. The matches will be held from
14 June to 15 July 2018 in 11 cities - Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny
Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Samara, Saransk, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd,"
said Dmitry Pegov, Director of Passenger Transport at Russian Railways.
Fans have already made more than 29,000 applications to travel on the extra trains.
To qualify for free travel on the additional trains, fans need to purchase tickets
for the 2018 World Cup matches and order a personalised Fan ID card (or fan ticket).
They also need to register on the site www.tickets.transport2018.com and book their
journey to the city where the match will be held.
After completing the registration and booking procedure, an information letter
containing all the information about the place in the selected additional train will
be sent to the e-mail the user indicated during the registration procedure.
For the convenience of fans, an electronic support service has been set up.
Fans of the World Cup 2018 can put their questions on obtaining and using the free
travel facilities at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The extra trains will consist of comfortable compartment carriages equipped with
air conditioning and environmentally friendly toilet complexes, as well as dining
It is planned to use innovative rolling stock: double-decker carriages and the
Lastochka electric trains.
Double-decker carriages will run on the following routes: Moscow - Samara, Moscow
- St. Petersburg, Moscow - Kazan, Moscow - Adler and St. Petersburg - Moscow.
The Lastochka electric trains will provide free transportation for fans on the
Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod route using double convoys consisting of 10 carriages.
It is expected that the most popular trains among fans will be services to and
from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara.
