Freight export shipments to Russia’s ports increased by 6.1% in January – September 2018

From January to September 2018, loading volumes of freight shipped to sea ports on the railways owned by OJSC Russian Railways rose by 6.1% compared to the same period in 2017 and exceeded 229 million tons,

Coal accounted for 46.9% of the export shipments, oil for 25.9%, ferrous metals for 8.9%, fertilisers 6.7% and grain 3.9%.

In the first 9 months, export freight shipments to the ports of Russia’s North-West region exceeded 97.1 million tons, an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period in 2017.

About 57 million tons were dispatched to the ports in Russia’s South, a rise of 1.1%, while handling at the ports of Russia’s Far East amounted to 74.7 million tons, up 7.4% on the first three quarters of 2017.
